Vans av classic high s12/22/2023 In the coming years Vans would introduce classic models such as the Old Skool, Slip-Ons, and Sk8-Hi. The southern California skateboard scene continued to set the trend that would be adopted by skaters across the globe. In 1976 Tony Alva helped to design the Era which paved the way for modern skate shoes. It wasn’t soon after that skateboarders developed a love for the grippy soles and more models with updated padding were soon added to the lineup. One of the earliest models was the #44 deck shoes, now known as the Authentic. The Van Doren brothers along with two partners had carved out a niche for themselves by being able to manufacture the shoes on site and sell them directly to anyone who entered their shop. The brand's humble roots can be traced back to a small manufacturing facility in southern California which first opened its doors in 1966. There are few brand stories as authentic as the history of Vans.
